REVITALIZATION OF GRZYBOWSKI SQUARE

PROJECT: MALINOWSKI DESIGN URBAN & LANDSCAPE
REALIZATION: 2010
FUNCTION: public space
INVESTOR: Miasto St. Warszawa
AREA: 1,5 ha
DATE: 2009
PROJECT TEAM: Dariusz Malinowski, Monika Radkiewicz, Agata Czarnecka, Michał Kaczmarczyk
ABOUT: The square’s original layout has been preserved virtually unchanged. Its triangular shape is very distinctive. The square is a symbol of what Warsaw was and still is today – a multicultural metropolis deserving places that reflect its unique character. The concept for the square is a merger of two closely related urban elements that need to be well balanced. Movement and bustle of urban communication and a human – this was the underlying idea of a garden enclave in the heart of the city. The hollowed part of the square helped create an impression of calmness and protection against the noisy city life, with the most interesting architectural objects forming the background.
